If you're like me, I always wondered how did the town of Pass a Grille get its name?

Local legend states that it was named from the French phrase Passe Aux Grilleurs (the passageway of the grillers) in honor of the fisherman who used to camp there.

Pam’s tip: Whether you’re a visitor or a resident to Pass-a-Grille a trip to the Gulf Beaches Historical Museum is a must-see.  This St Petersburg gem is located in the heart of Pass-a-Grille historical district (the very south end of St Pete Beach). You will be sure to get a good feel of what life was like along our Gulf beaches before World War II. The museum also documents the amazing story of the “Pink Palace”, the Don Cesar which opened in 1928.
